Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. As an adult, you understand the importance of a nice smile personally, socially and professionally.
One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21. It is becoming much more common for adults to have braces.
When we apply braces on children, we have the advantage of their growing jaw to help guide their teeth. As an adult, we're working with a jaw that is not growing, so in the most severe cases, jaw surgery may be required to achieve perfect results.
Adults also may have experienced some breakdown or loss of their teeth and bone that supports the teeth and may require periodontal treatment before, during and/or after orthodontic treatment. Bone loss can also limit the amount and direction of tooth movement that is advisable.
We provide our adult patients with a thorough examination to determine the best course of treatment to achieve the best possible results.
